Klim is a Technical Reality

Klim Wind Rivers
We had our annual Boondockers Backpacking trip a couple weeks ago to our customary location, The Wind River Range right next to Pinedale, Wyoming. We even added an extra day to our trip and we we're still left wanting a longer exposure to the magnificent country. Now that we have some backpacking experience and our share of unfavorable journeys logged in the books, we're consistently evaluating the opportunity cost of the gear and food we pack in.

It's a big deal, is it really worth packing that winter jacket… Is it really worth packing that shampoo… Is it really worth packing baby wipes… Do I pack a tent or bivvy… Will I actually use that mess kit… Will I acutally use that 7# Military grade poncho… So quickly, you start asking yourself millions of those “is it really worth it” questions while your pack inexplicably gains weight as feet turn into miles!

When it comes to being worth packing, the only gear we not only never question packing but refuse to leave home without, is our Klim gear. Of course we rely on Klim gear in the winter to keep dry, keep water out, breath, stop the wind, wick body moisture, keep us toasty, etc… you better believe we trust Klim for the other 3 seasons! For those very exact, unique and essential features we mentioned, our safety relies on Klim's base-layers, mid-layers, socks, headwear, jackets and other apparel all through Spring, Summer and Fall.

In our packs, the gear we choose to rely on when we're miles and miles away from civilization and cellular service is Klim gear. The ‘Technical Reality' is that our Klim gear is as critical to our safety as our first aid and fire starters. We could talk all about the features and reasons why we choose each article but we don't have the space for that in this post. The long and the short is, we choose it because it's the lightest, most durable and most functional.
